Athletes Gearing Up for Oval Canada Cup Finale

CALGARY, March 7, 2012 – Canadian and International athletes are gearing up for the last Canada Cup (Single Distance) competition of the season, the 2012 Olympic Oval Canada Cup Finale, which will take place March 14, 15, 16, 17 & 18, 2012 at the Olympic Oval in Calgary.

Athletes from around the world are arriving at the Oval for this highlight event that will see top athletes from Japan, Finland, Mongolia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Norway, Canada, and the United States (to name a few) compete for prizes and personal bests. Oval Finale is an annual event with a reputation for fast times, and skaters are eager to take a shot at country and world records.

Competition starts Wednesday with the Ladies 3000m and Men’s 5000m, and Thursday sees the kick-off of the sprint portion of the competition. The event wraps-up on Sunday with Mass Start races for both the ladies and men. This year’s Finale promises to be an exciting end to a very successful season at the Olympic Oval.
