Adult Cycling Programs

The Cycling Centre Calgary (CCC) offers several adult programs from October to March. Below is information on are two programs currently being offered at the Cycling Centre this fall and winter.

Club Racer

The Club Racer Program is designed for adult athletes interested in developing cycling skills and their general fitness. Participants range in ability from learning to ride to the competitive enthusiast. The program focuses on cycling training, core strength and stability.

Cycling sessions are coached by NCCP certified cycling coaches providing athletes with a structured but social atmosphere to improve their cycling skills and fitness. Athletes take part in coached sessions while riding their own road or mountain bike, on their own rollers or wind trainers. Storage is provided for bikes and trainers (for the first 80 registrants). We recommend locking your bike in storage for safety.

Training schedule:

  • Monday training session;7:00-9:00pm
  • Tuesday training session; 7:00-9:00pm
  • Thursday training session; 7:00-9:100 pm
  • Saturday training session; 10:00 am-12:00 pm

Program Orientation

Club Race Orientation takes place on Monday, October 1st at 7:00pm in the Olympic Oval Room 54 at the University of Calgary.

Cost

  • Year long (20 week) program: October 1, 2012 to March 20, 2012 – $500
  • Fall (10 week) program: October 1, 2012 to December 20, 2012 – $330
  • Winter (10 week) program: January 7, 2013 to March 21, 2013 – $330 (orientation meeting at 6:00 PM January 7 2013)

Club Racer Power Program

The Club Racer Program is designed for adult athletes who have experience in bike racing or other competitive athletic experience. Athletes of this program have mastered the fundamentals of cycling, and are beginning to specialize in specific cycling disciplines (road, track, mountain bike, cyclo-cross). The program works towards facilitating athletic growth and development in specific cycling disciplines, preparing athletes for competition in Alberta races.

Athletes take part in coached sessions and are required to have their own road bike, rollers (and/or trainer), and heart rate monitors. Athletes are also required to bring athletic shoes and clothing for strength and agility practices. Having a cycling power meter is an asset.

Training schedule:

  • Monday: indoor riding sessions at the Oval from 7 to 9 p.m.
  • Wednesday: indoor riding sessions at the Oval from 7 to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday: Group ride outdoors or indoor weather depending. 10a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Athletes will be given strength programs during the winter to do on their own Tuesday and Thursday at their local gym.

Program Orientation

Club Race Power Orientation takes place on Wednesday, October 3rd at 7:00pm in the Olympic Oval room 54 at the University of Calgary.

Cost

33 week program: October 1, 2012 to May 31st, 2013 – $900 (payment of $900 due November 1, 2012.
